During a visit to the ER on 10/22/09, a CT scan showed what looked like lymphoma. My lymph node biopsy confirmed Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and after a bone marrow biopsy, I was officially diagnosed as Stage 2A on 11/10/09. Treatment began with ABVD chemo starting on 11/16/09 and ending on 12/28/09. Radiation therapy followed from 01/24/10 to 02/25/10.
That’s the technical side of things I guess… But I knew that I’d be facing more than just the physical stuff.
When I was told that I was facing Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, I thought that a blog would be the perfect way to keep everyone informed. It definitely helped me to do that, but it’s also been a great opportunity to reopen the door to my writing… I’ve always been a writer and being able to share my thoughts as I go through life is a real gift.
Now that the hardest part of beating cancer is over, my blog has become an outlet to share more. My thoughts, my dreams, my everyday life. The cancer stuff will come up from time to time, I’m sure, but for the most part I want to get back to the good things. So prepare yourself for lots of writing and even more pictures of the kids.
Thanks to everyone for dropping by! Your love and support mean so much!
